JAROD COX

ARTIST / OWNER

My career as an artist finds its roots in the banks of Fishing Creek in southeastern Kentucky. It is there that I began collecting rock specimens and molding small beads from the blue clay that I found in my backyard. Upon graduating high school, I shifted my focus more broadly to studio arts, attending Berea College where I learned the basics of woodworking, printmaking, ceramics and silversmithing. After completing my degree, I launched Fishing Creek Jewelry.

Fishing Creek Jewelry is comprised solely of my original jewelry designs inspired by the rugged beauty and rich heritage of Appalachia. Local Kentucky agate and quartz feature prominently throughout my collections, and I employ various techniques like sawing, fusing and soldering metal pieces together to craft unique, memorable, heirloom-quality pieces. With each new piece, I invite others to join me in honoring the beauty and tradition of Appalachia.
